NTCL GENERAL SHIPPING INFORMATION
All dates in this schedule are subject to change without prior notice, depending on water levels, ice or other conditions.
CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE
All cargo is transported in accordance with the terms and conditions of NTCL’s Non-Negotiable Shipping Receipt, or Bill of Lading in the case of Alaska shipments, and its published tariffs. The tariffs, Shipping Receipt and Bill of Lading may be examined during business hours at all NTCL offices. Due to rising fuel costs, a fuel surcharge may be added to shipping costs for the 2006 sailing season.
INSURANCE
NTCL offers insurance through Marsh Canada Cargo. If insurance is not required, cargo is carried by NTCL AT OWNER’S RISK OF DAMAGE OR LOSS. For more information please check here.
STORAGE
Cargo received after terminal opening will be stored free of charge while awaiting barge shipment. While in storage, cargo will be at Shipper’s and/or Owner’s risk for all hazards, including amongst other perils, fire, flooding and freezing.
PACKAGING AND CRATING
All packaging, including cases and crates, must be of strong construction, and the contents well packed for shipment on open deck barge. It is the Shipper’s responsibility to provide adequate covering or wrapping to protect against severe weather, ship motions, stacking and handling. Cargo improperly or insufficiently packaged will be subject to additional charges.
DANGEROUS GOODS
Dangerous goods delivered for shipment must be correctly packaged, labeled and accompanied by a Dangerous Goods Shipping Document, all in accordance with the regulations respecting the handling, offering for transport and the transporting of dangerous goods.
MARKINGS
The name of the consignee, the destination and the gross weight must be clearly marked on individual cases, crates and packages.
WEIGHTS AND DIMENSIONS
All declared weights must be actual gross weights and not estimates.
Shippers consigning cargo which is subject to dimensional rating
must provide accurate measurements in accordance with the rules expressed
in NTCL’s
tariff; therwise,
NTCL’s measured dimensions will apply.
C.O.D. SHIPMENTS
C.O.D. shipments for the value of goods will not be accepted.
BULK PETROLEUM PRODUCTS
Bulk petroleum products will be accepted for shipment only from marine transfer facilities such as those located in Hay River, N.W.T.
RO-RO AND CONTAINER SERVICES
Roll on-Roll off highway trailer service is available to certain destinations by prior arrangement. Standard ISO 20’ containers are available for rental in the Mackenzie River and Western Arctic sectors.
